A HOLIDAY MESSAGE FROM PRESIDENT JOHN T. NICCOLLAI - THURSDAY, DECEMBER 24, 2020

As we approach the Holiday Season with a vaccine just around the corner, we have many reasons to be thankful.

As essential workers, we continue to bring home a well deserved paycheck, where many in the labor force have not seen money in over ten months.

Our contract negotiations were a tremendous success and will provide for our Full-time and Part-time workforce for many years to come, especially with our no co-pay healthcare.

CONTRACT NEGOTIATIONS UPDATE

President Niccollai reported this evening that a tentative settlement has been reached with Stop & Shop, ShopRite and Foodtown for a new agreement, which will guarantee no co-pay medical benefits to both full-time and part-time members for the entire term.  This accomplishment is monumental and comes at substantial cost to our Employers.

Other noteworthy highlights include:

• Continuation of our Defined Benefit Pension Plan.

CONTRACT NEGOTIATIONS UPDAT - President Niccollai reported today that the Union Contract Negotiating Committee met again today with the Negotiating Committee for the Employers.  The Company gave us a second contract proposal, which was slightly better than the first proposal, but still far short of our goals and needs.  The biggest positive move made by the Employers related to the fact that they will continue to fund our Defined Benefit Pension Plan for both full-time and part-time members.  The biggest disappointment is the Company’s position to require a 9 ½% deduction fro

KINGS BANKRUPTCY UPDATE

President Niccollai reported today that the Rumor Mill is running wild again, with stories being issued by uninformed sources that are undermining the workforce and the integrity of the Company.  Let’s all take a few minutes, settle down and deal with the facts and not a Rumor Mill that’s always negative and hurtful.

First, ACME is the successful bidder for 27 stores and seeks to enhance the reputation of Kings and grow the business.  (That’s very positive.)

SHOP STEWARDS SEMINAR CANCELLED FOR 2020

Based upon the COVID-19 Pandemic, the Shop Stewards Seminar originally scheduled for Tuesday, October 20, 2020 has been cancelled. Any attempts to hold a Seminar of this magnitude at the Local 464A Union Auditorium would not only be a violation of State law and CDC Guidelines, but would also not be in the best interest of the safety and welfare of our outstanding Shop Stewards.

We are hopeful that we will once again be able to schedule this most important training seminar for our Stewards next year.
