AN IMPORTANT MESSAGE FROM PRESIDENT JOHN T. NICCOLLAI

TO ALL MEMBERS OF KINGS SUPERMARKETS

CHAPTER 11 BANKRUPTCY

President Niccollai reported this morning that Kings Supermarkets filed for Chapter 11 Bankruptcy protection with the Federal Court for the Southern District of New York late last night.  The Company has assured the Union that business will continue as usual and we will not see any changes or modifications in the Collective Bargaining Agreement concerning wages, health care, pension, or working conditions.

Our Brothers and Sisters from Kings should be aware that this is not the Union’s “First Ride at the Rodeo” regarding a company bankruptcy.  We have already conferred with our Attorneys, set up a conference call with the International and all other Locals involved, and are prepared to take any and all steps to protect our contracts and the membership going forward.  As additional information becomes available we will post the same.

We ask all our Brothers and Sisters to remain calm, with the understanding that your Union will do everything humanly possible to protect you, your family, and your livelihood.
