IMPORTANT MESSAGE FROM PRESIDENT JOHN T. NICCOLLAI MONDAY, MARCH 1, 2021

COVID-19 UPDATE

A LIGHT AT THE END OF THE VACCINE TUNNEL

FOR FOOD WORKERS!

President Niccollai reported today that as you know from prior postings, your Union has been unwavering in our attempt to achieve recognition of “our Essential Worker status” for receiving the COVID-19 vaccine.  Well, we can finally report success on that issue.

We received a message this morning from our International Union that the Office of the Governor of the State of New Jersey announced as of March 29, 2021 food workers in New Jersey will be eligible as a class to receive the COVID-19 vaccine.  We are also pleased to report that in the State of New York, food workers are currently classified as “Essential Workers” and are being vaccinated.

The biggest problem in both States is a short supply of the vaccine, especially in New Jersey.  With the rollout of the new Johnson & Johnson vaccine, along with the extra production by Moderna and Pfizer, that problem is being reduced on a daily basis.

Your Union continues to volunteer our Meeting Hall, along with our Medical Facility personnel, if we are certified as a dispensary center but, so far no success.  Presently our Brothers and Sisters need to check the sites in both New Jersey and New York to set up an appointment.  These are the initial contacts for both States: 1) covid19.nj.gov (New Jersey); 2) covid19vaccine.health.ny.gov (New York).  In addition, drug stores, including ShopRite, are currently setting up appointments for administration of the vaccine.

We ask everyone to keep in mind that better times are coming; and to our heroic membership who helped shepherd society in supplying food for the family table through these horrendous times THANK YOU – THANK YOU – THANK YOU!!

 WORK SMARTLY – WORK SAFELY!
