UPDATE ON STOP & SHOP CONTRACT NEGOTIATIONS IN NEW ENGLAND
With all Local Unions ratifying the New England Stop & Shop Settlement, members are elated as to the terms of the newly negotiated contract.
We must take our hats off to the teamwork of our International Staff and the five (5) Local Unions involved. With the help of the membership and the extensive use of social media, the Stop & Shop Company was brought down to a level of total ineffectiveness. We would be remiss if we also didn’t acknowledge the planning and assistance of our International President Marc Perrone. He brought out the best in our UFCW staffs and membership and allowed us to stand proud with the Settlement.
The Highlights of the Agreement are as follows:
Term:
Three (3) years expiring February 26, 2022
Wages:
Full-Time: Increases totaling between $55.00 and $70.00 per week over the term of the Agreement dependent on years of hire. Newer hired employees shall receive some portion of the increases in the form of a bonus.
Part-Time: Increases totaling between $.75 and $1.55 per hour over the term of the Agreement dependent on years of service with the Company. Those with twelve (12) years of service or more shall receive $1.55 per hour over the term of the Agreement. New hires will progress over a period of three (3) years to receive time and one-half on Sunday.
Medical
Full-Time Family Coverage will continue with a weekly co-pay by the member of $30.00 for 2019, $34.00 for 2020 and $38.00 for 2021.
Part-Time Coverage will continue with a weekly co-pay by the member of $15.00 for 2019, $17.00 for 2020 and $19.00 for 2021. This Medical Program applies only to part-time members working 30 hours or more per week.
Pension
The Company agreed to make specific contributions for both full-time and part-time Pensions. The Pension rates, supported by the contributions going forward, will depend on the credited payouts assigned by the Fund.
Again, we congratulate our New England Locals and our International Union.
